We recently completed a tidy installation of an Andersen A3 home EV charger for a customer in Tollerton, Nottinghamshire — and it’s exactly the kind of job that shows why local, accredited installers still matter when you want a safe, stylish, and reliable charge at home.
Why the Andersen A3?
The Andersen A3 was an excellent fit for this brief: it’s compact and wall-mounted, with a modern, attractive design that keeps the cable tidy. It supports smart features and flexible charging schedules, which our customer appreciated for overnight charging and taking advantage of cheaper electricity tariffs. Crucially, the A3’s build quality makes it a good long-term choice for a homeowner planning to keep an EV for years to come.
Note: every home and electrical supply is different — our recommendation is always based on the property’s electrical capacity, the EV owner’s driving habits, and future needs.
The installation — what we did
Site survey (pre-visit): Before the day of install we checked the property’s consumer unit rating, distribution of circuits, and the shortest, safest route for the charging cable from the unit to the car. Because the customer is local to Tollerton, we were able to carry out a quick pre-visit assessment and confirm everything could be completed in one visit.
Preparation: On installation day we arrived on time with all required parts, tidy PPE, and the appropriate permits and paperwork. We set up a safe working area on the driveway, protecting surfaces and ensuring pedestrian access remained clear.
Mounting & electrical works: The A3 was mounted to the external wall in the agreed position. We ran the dedicated circuit from the consumer unit following best-practice cable routing, fitted a dedicated RCD/MCB as needed, and used a lockable isolator for ease of future service work. Where trenching or conduit were needed, we kept runs short and neat to preserve the look of the property.
Configuration & testing: Once physically installed, we configured the unit and ran a full series of electrical and safety tests — continuity, insulation resistance, earth loop where required, and functionality tests for the charger itself. We demonstrated how to start/stop charging, schedule charging windows, and showed how to read the status LEDs/app indicators.
Handover: We left the site tidy, provided the customer with a simple printed handover sheet covering safety, how to use the charger, and our contact details for support. We also registered the installation in any required logs and explained warranty and maintenance basics.
Time taken & minimal disruption
From arrival to handover the job took under a day. There was minimal disruption to the household — we protect driveways and entrances, and clean up all waste. The customer was able to charge the same evening.
Customer experience
The homeowner was delighted with the neat finish and appreciated the walkthrough on smart scheduling, which will allow them to charge overnight using cheaper tariffs. They liked the modern look of the A3 and how it kept the cable tidy when not in use.
Aftercare & support
We provide documentation on safe operation and tips to keep the charger working efficiently (basic checks, clear access around the unit, and what to do if a fault indicator appears). As an accredited installer, Midlec Ltd also offers follow-up support and routine servicing if the customer wants it.
